A Wedding Videographer’s Perspective On The Best Wedding Venues Around Melton
While Melton itself may just be the suburb I call home, I know how many beautiful locations its surrounds have to offer. Every year my couples find new spots to get married in and I feel lucky to be invited to join them so close to home. Although there are many venues I could list here, I’ve chosen to only include venues I have filmed at in the last year so the list is up to date and that I had experienced a full wedding day there myself.
LAWSON LODGE, MACEDON
Melton Wedding Videography - Jamie Ross Weddings
Lawson Lodge is a private retreat less than 30 minutes outside Melton and is one of the most picturesque venues I’ve filmed at. It’s perfect for couples looking to host their entire bridal party and close family for a weekend or longer.
Waking up on your wedding morning without having to deal with travel or rounding up the important guests sets you up for a stress-free day. You’re able to simply get ready and literally walk out the front door and down the aisle. After the ceremony you’ll have plenty of time for photos and video around the property followed a relaxed outdoor reception and a party under the stars.
For a wedding videographer, the abundance of gorgeous spots for filming couples is a dream. Being able to get a good variety of shots without wasting precious wedding-day time travelling between locations is invaluable; my favourite being the cute lakeside cottage where most couples will spend their wedding night. There’s also golf carts available to zip around in.
Tanya and Cameron chose Lawson Lodge for their special day in February 2022. They arrived the day before and spent the evening with family and friends. Their wedding day prep was relaxed and their garden ceremony ran smoothly. I spent a couple of hours with them for their location shots in a few spots I had scouted out earlier. Having so much time meant we were all able to keep the mood casual and authentic which always makes for amazing shots. Their reception wrapped things up nicely with a live band playing late into the night.
If seclusion, a good variety of location shots and an easy-going wedding day are important to you, Lawson Lodge has you covered.
DEL RIOS WINERY, ANAKIE
Cinematic Wedding Videography Across Melton - Jamie Ross Weddings
Del Rios Winery is a family-owned winery west of Melton which is home to (and I mean this) the BEST sunset views for any wedding venue I’ve ever been to. Most wedding videographers will encourage you to squeeze in a golden-hour shoot on your wedding day, but here it is a must.
The winery sits atop of a hill with uninterruped views of the Brisbane Ranges and the dining area has been designed with roof high windows that give you the perfect view of the sunset. This design layout rids the need of ugly fluorescent lighting and creates a unique opportunity in summer for you and your guests to enjoy dinner in natural sunlight. These conditions make way for some of the best possible looking wedding video and photo shots for an indoor reception.
Kathleen & Andres married here in January 2022. They kept their ceremony to under 20 guests and was conducted in an adorably tiny chapel at the bottom of the winery hill. The remainder of the guests then joined them for cocktails by the llama pen and a dinner under a golden sunset. Joined by Jake Hogan, a veteran of the wedding photo industry, we drove the couple out to the winery fields during golden hour and got busy. My favourite moment was when Kath and Andres admitted they had never truly watched a sunset together before. Recognising the importance of the occasion, we both took a step away and actually let them enjoy the moment without direction or posing. This made for some truly candid and authentic shots which always translates well within wedding videos.
Del Rios Winery has only recently started hosting weddings, but they’ve been delivering fantastic service and delicious food (do not pass on the slow-cooked lamb) for years and that’s why I recommend them if you’re looking for a winery-style wedding.
EYNESBURY HOMESTEAD, EYNESBURY
Videographer For Weddings - Jamie Ross
Eynesbury Homestead, an 1870’s-restored bluestone homestead nestled beside Eynesbury Golf Course, is so close to Melton that it shares the same postcode. I’ve spent a great deal of time in Eynesbury on my weekends off. Even though most of that time has been spent trying to get golf balls out of bunkers, I still know the area quite well.
I really am a sucker for a well manicured garden and Eynesbury Homestead delivers. Being fully surrounded by colourful flowers and towering gumtrees means there’s an infinite number of backdrops and angles for photos and video. Whenever I’m here, I always find fresh perspectives to shoot from that keeps every wedding video unique. The aesthetic of the estate also compliments my cinematic wedding videography style perfectly. I aim to create wedding videos that are classic and timeless so being at a location that boasts heritage architecture and undisturbed forest is the perfect fit.
Amy and Matthew married here in November 2021. These guys were incredibly laid back and had organised their wedding day to feel the same. Keeping the video candid was a big one for these guys which is exactly how I approached it. I simply stood back and captured the vibrant garden ceremony and rowdy marquee reception.
